EDUC 5373-Week 2

For a technology plan to be effective, we should analyze the stakeholders involved. Students and families/parents will play the most crucial roles in ensuring the success of my initiative. Students will be directly impacted by the ease with which they can complete assignments outside the classroom. This will allow them to have a better learning experience and keep up with classroom assignments. Families will also be key due to the responsibilities placed upon them. They will support students’ use of technology at home, care for the devices, and provide the necessary support to their children. When developing this plan, it is of utmost importance to involve students and families in providing insights into how the technology will benefit them, ensuring the plan is effective.

Current initiatives in the school system include increasing technology access for students. With the issuance of grant money to assist with these technological improvements and the implementation of STEAM-related services, expanding access to devices outside of the school day will complement these efforts.

By collaborating with stakeholders and educators, a plan can be designed and implemented more effectively. Being a member of the grant committee gives me the opportunity to present my ideas and discuss with other members how we can ensure students have devices at home. The focus will be on working together and doing what is best for the students.

The model that resonates most with my plan is the Triple E Framework. Using this framework as a guide for technology integration will be helpful, as it emphasizes three main areas: Engagement, Enhancement, and Extension. Technology should improve the student experience, making learning easier and promoting collaboration. It should also extend learning beyond the classroom, allowing students to continue their education at home. This will be beneficial to student success.

    I enjoyed reading your blog. The Triple E framework also resonates with me, as i see engagement (both for students and for the educators, and perhaps all stakeholder categories) as such a critical component of success. I am interested in knowing more details of the challenges you face and how you might accomplish the goal. I know that for my situation, we have some resources and the challenge is more about utilization of resources, which, of course, also involves staff training in use of technology. Keep up the good work. i look forward to reading more about the process for you, which may be a more typical application than my situation.

Part 1:  When starting to develop the LMS for this class I had a moment where I realized I have already been put in charge of something similar for my district. I have been asked to create a repository of resources for teachers that allows them to figure out the best technology to use for certain situations. Using the Triple E Framework I will be able to evaluate the technology before outlining it for teachers. EDUC 5243-Blog 1

       The technology framework that would best serve the district I am in is the Triple E Framework by Dr. Liz Kolb. This is a way to evaluate how effective technology is by looking at 3 points: engagement, enhancement and extension. Using these components technology is evaluated by how much it helps to achieve the learning goals and objectives. Instead of looking at technology as fluff and more as how it can be most effective for the students.
